You may be registered on NipeX but not receiving tender invitations. We discuss one of two main reasons for this all-too-common problem.
Nigerian Petroleum Exchange (NipeX) is an online platform used to facilitate tenders in the upstream sector of the Nigerian oil & gas industry.
NipeX enables wider access to business opportunities and increased visibility for indigenous contractors.
The major independent oil companies (IOCs) are mandated to publish all major high value contract opportunities on NipeX and conduct the entire tender via the platform.
Opportunities are categorised through Product Codes for different product/service categories.
So why may a contractor be registered with NipeX and still not access tender/contract opportunities?
On average, there are about 200 – 300 prequalified contractors in each Product Category.
However as a Buyer, my NipeX tender will usually include only about 15% – 25% of the prequalified contractors.
This means that 75% - 85% of the prequalified contractors are missing out on published opportunities?
Why?
You are currently ‘INACTIVE’ in NipeX.
Your registration/subscription expires one year after the first registration. Once it expires, it converts your status from ‘ACTIVE’ to ‘INACTIVE’.
At the deadline of a published tender, the Buyer downloads the list of prequalified contractors for the relevant Product Code(s).
If your subscription is expired, your company status will appear as INACTIVE on the bid list. All INACTIVE contractors are automatically excluded from the list.
What to do?
If you are already registered and have not received any NipeX tender opportunities for a while, immediately log into NipeX and check your status. If you are INACTIVE, you need to renew your subscription.
